Iowa State Capitol – Des Moines Fall Engagement Session

For Callie + Eric’s engagement session, we decided on the Iowa State Capitol Building in Des Moines. They wanted a mix of indoor and outdoor photos, but the most important thing to them was that it felt natural and authentic to who they were as a couple. We explored around inside – they hadn’t been inside the Capitol Building since an elementary field trip.

When Callie first reached out she said she loved the way I used light to tell stories and it’s something I kept close to my heart during their entire session ensuring they felt comfortable enough to just be themselves, laugh together, and soak in this phase of their relationship.

My favorite part was when we made our way outside and Callie slipped off her shoes. It all happened so naturally and we couldn’t have gotten a better Fall day for their session!

We met in daycare and became the boy + the girl next door.

After my family moved from Colorado to Iowa, we met in daycare. A year later, our families just happened to move in across the street from each other in a new town. Call it kismet. After 25 years of knowing each other and 10 years dating, we couldn't wait to celebrate our relationship with our friends and family and got married on our family farm.
