11 Wedding Venues in Des Moines IA

1. Salisbury House and Gardens

Salisbury House and Gardens is one of the most incredible historic wedding venues in Des Moines IA. It was built in the 1920s in the Tudor style. The ivy-covered stone buildings and cobblestone courtyards have a stunning European feel. It’s like Lake Como minus the lake. There’s lots of shade and cozy spots for candid moments.

2. Willow on Grand

Willow On Grand is a large wedding venue located at the border of the Waterwood and Westwood neighborhoods. The interior is minimalist with lots of bright natural light. The courtyard is one of the most popular spots for ceremonies. You can set up your arch on the doorsteps of the sweet little cottage. Willow on Grand is a great venue for people who want to enjoy a lush outdoor space without heading into the country. It’s only seven minutes from downtown Des Moines!

3. Rollins Mansion

The same architects who built Salisbury House and Gardens built Rollins Mansion. It has the same emphasis on beautifully landscaped gardens and a European aesthetic. I love the patio that overlooks the Des Moines skyline. Even though you can see the city, being at the Rollins Mansion feels like stepping back in time. If you love all things vintage, this is one of the best wedding venues in Des Moines IA for you.

4. Backstage at NOCE

Backstage at NOCE is one of the smaller wedding venues in Des Moines IA. It’s perfect for couples who love ambiance. The twinkling lights and intimate interior feel like you’re in your own jazz club. It’s right downtown, too, so you can easily fit in portraits with the city as your backdrop. If you’re planning a smaller celebration, Backstage at NOCE is worth a look.

5. Raspberry Hill Bed & Breakfast

If you want less city and a more dreamy country setting for your wedding, check out Raspberry Hill Bed & Breakfast. It sits on 72 acres of trees, ponds, and rolling fields. There’s no shortage of places to get lost in the moment with your partner and loved ones. They even have a large pavilion, so rain can’t stop your Raspberry Hill wedding.

6. Des Moines Botanical Garden

The Des Moines Botanical Garden is a favorite summer wedding venue, but it’s beautiful all year round. The observatory is ideal for small, intimate weddings with the glass dome letting sunlight stream through. There are endless spots for ceremonies and portraits, though. Event rentals come with some basics, but you can really make your wedding your own.

7. The Tea Room

The Tea Room is as refined as it sounds. It’s one of the most elegant wedding venues in Des Moines IA with a clean, classic style. Located right in the heart of downtown Des Moines, it has an incredible balcony. We filmed a beautiful wedding here. Check out the video!

8. Surety Hotel

Surety Hotel has a modern look. Weddings are typically held in a large sunroom full of natural light. The hanging plants almost make it feel like you’re in a greenhouse in the middle of the city. Surety Hotel has understated but beautiful decor that’s easy to customize to your tastes. It’s also so convenient to get married at a hotel because you can get ready there too. It minimizes transitions and makes your wedding day that much easier.

9. Des Moines Heritage Center

A lot of wedding venues in Des Moines IA lean towards very historic or modern looks. Des Moines Heritage Center mixes the old and the new. The outdoor plaza is a beautiful spot for ceremonies and receptions. The interior is spacious and bright too.

10. Toast

The rooftop is the coolest feature of Toast. This wedding venue can accommodate up to 400 people, but the balcony is especially suited to small celebrations with your closest family and friends. Floral installations really stand out in the sleek ballroom.

11. Iris Aisle

Iris Aisle is one of my favorite wedding venues in Des Moines IA. The owner lovingly built the Victorian-style greenhouse. Its clean lines and view of the open sky make it a magical ceremony location. Gorgeous trees and plants surround it. I love that it’s off the beaten path in Winterset because it feels so peaceful.
